The UMF LiteMod™ Unit Mainframe is the heart of the LiteMod™ system, providing the interface for the various LiteMod™ accessories, including the
Snoot,
the Barndoors, the
Gels/Filters and
Gel Holder, and the
Honeycomb Grids.
The UMF easily attaches to the faceplate of your standard Paul C. Buff™ flash unit in place of the reflector. It includes both a 7-inch silver field reflector (80º beam spread) and accessory-interfacing mainframe for holding accessories. The built-in reflector/mainframe design offers a sturdy fit, reduces light spill, and provides heat dissipation with its air-flow holes. With the UMF, you can position your flash unit in any configuration and securely fasten accessories to achieve various effects.
Flash Units: The UMF LiteMod™ Unit Mainframe attaches to the faceplate of all Paul C. Buff™ standard flash units and flash heads, including the
DigiBee (DB400 and DB800) flash units,
AlienBees™ units,
White Lightning™ X-Series units, retired Zeus™ heads (Z2500SH and Z2500BTH), and
Einstein™ E640 units. The UMF is not compatible with the AlienBees™ ABR800 ringflash, the retired Zeus™ Ringmaster head, or the retired WL Series (5,000 and 10,000) units.
Snoot: The UMF LiteMod™ Unit Mainframe may be used with the LMSNT LiteMod™ Snoot for tightening the beam spread. The snoot slides inside the front square holding slot on the mainframe. The snoot requires the UMF for use.
Barndoors: The UMF LiteMod™ Unit Mainframe may be used with the LMBD4 LiteMod™ Barndoors for directing the throw of light. The barndoors slide inside the front square holding slot on the mainframe. The barndoors do not require the UMF for use as they may be used with the 7AB/R 7-inch reflector alone.
Gels and Filters: The UMF LiteMod™ Unit Mainframe may be used with our full line of 8-inch x 10-inch gels and filters (the CF6, CF20, ND6, WF6, DF6 and UV6). The gels/filters can slide inside the front square holding slot on the mainframe, though the GELH Gel Holder is recommended to keep the gels/filters flat and in position. The gels/filters do not require the UMF for use as they may be used with the 7AB/R 7-inch reflector alone. The GELH requires the UMF for use.
Honeycomb Grids: The UMF LiteMod™ Unit Mainframe may be used with our 7-inch honeycomb grids (the
HG10,
HG20,
HG30 and
HG40). A single grid snaps inside the recessed outer lip of the built-in reflector. The grids do not require the UMF for use, however, as they may be used with the 7AB/R 7-inch reflector alone.
