The SBA Foldable Softbox Stand Mount Adapter is designed for use with all of our current, foldable FOB and FSB softboxes, octaboxes, and stripboxes, offering an alternate mounting option with increased stability and support.

The SBA adapter allows you to mount your foldable softbox directly to a heavy duty light stand, then attach your flash unit to the softbox itself. This setup provides increased security and stability when using larger softboxes, or when positioning your softboxes to hang overhead or tilt at extreme angles. This mounting method additionally removes the burden of supporting the softbox weight from the faceplate of your flash unit.

The SBA adapter attaches to the built-in speedring on any current model of Paul C. Buff foldable softbox. The softbox, with the SBA adapter attached, is then connected directly to your light stand. While the adapter can be used with any light stand having a top coupler up to 5/8-inch, it is designed for use with heavy duty light stands only, such as our LS3900 13-foot light stand, our TS13AC 13-foot air-cushioned stand, or comparable stands from other manufacturers. The adapter includes a light stand mounting bracket with a T-screw for locking the position and a ratchet handle for adjusting the angle.

Flash Units: The SBA adapter is designed for use with Paul C. Buff flash units ONLY (DigiBee flash units, AlienBees standard flash units, Einstein flash units, White Lightning X-Series flash units, and the retired/discontinued White Lightning UltraZAP flash units, Ultra Series flash units, and Zeus standard and bi-tube flash heads). The foldable softbox with SBA adapter may NOT be used with AlienBees ABR800 Ringflash, the retired/discontinued Zeus Ringmaster, or with the the retired/discontinued White Lightning WL 5,000 or 10,000 Series units. As the SBA adapter is designed for use with Paul C. Buff flash units ONLY, we cannot make any claim for suitability with flash units from other manufacturers, nor can we accept any liability for any damage that might be caused to such flash units.

Softboxes: The SBA adapter is designed for use with Paul C. Buff foldable softboxes ONLY (current FOB and FSB models) - it may NOT be used with our older, retired line of non-foldable softboxes or with softboxes from other manufacturers.

Light Stands: The SBA adapter is designed for use with heavy duty light stands only, such as our LS3900 13-foot light stand, our TS13AC 13-foot air-cushioned stand, or comparable stands/booms from other manufacturers. The light stand mounting bracket on the SBA fits standard light stand having top couplers up to 5/8-inch. Before mounting a softbox with the SBA adapter, expand your light stand and tighten the knobs to secure its position. The footprint of the stand should be opened wide to help balance the setup, and sandbags or weights may be necessary with the larger softboxes.
