The Baby Boomer™ is a mounting arm that attaches to the top of your heavy-duty light stand to allow offset mounting and extension of your flash unit 8 inches out from the top of the stand mount.
With the direct, top-mounting of standard light stands, positioning is limited by the size of the flash and the attached accessories – particularly restricted to a small range of angle adjustments when large accessories are present. The Baby Boomer™ eliminates these frustrations by offering a wide range of motion for your flash, especially useful with large accessories such as the
Retro Laser™ Reflector, the
Beauty Dishes and the
PLM™ System. Whereas standard, upright mounting allows only a few degrees of adjustment, the Baby Boomer™ provides clearance from the stand so that your flash unit and accessories can be angled and tilted over a much broader range, allowing extreme down-angle positioning.
The heavy-duty zinc alloy arm supports all Paul C. Buff™ flash units with a variety of faceplate accessories, attaching to the top coupler of our 13-foot light stand (and similar light stands from other manufacturers having a standard 5/8-inch connection). We recommend the use of our
10ACLS or
TS13AC heavy-duty light stands with the Baby Boomer™ as the offset positioning makes the setup top heavy. When used with larger accessories, particularly the PLM™ System and softboxes / octaboxes, sandbags or other weights may be needed.
Flash Units: The Baby Boomer™ arm supports all Paul C. Buff™ flash units with a variety of faceplate accessories.
Note on AlienBees™ and Beauty Dishes: With the location of the mounting block on AlienBees™ flash units and the flat rear surface of the 22HOBD and 22HOBD-W beauty dishes, there is not any additional range of motion gained when using these two products together.
Light Stands: The Baby Boomer™ can be used with our 13-foot light stands and similar light stands from other manufacturers having a standard 5/8-inch connection. We recommend the use of our 10ACLS or 13ACLS heavy-duty light stands with the Baby Boomer™ as the offset positioning makes the setup top heavy. When used with larger accessories, particularly the PLM™ System and softboxes / octaboxes, sandbags or other weights may be needed.
