A grid is used on a softbox or octabox to control light spill and tighten the total coverage area; this can be particularly helpful in tight shooting environments. The soft, even light quality of the boxes remains, but the grids allow you to have more directional control over the output by tightening the beam spread to 40°.

The black fabric grids have velcro edging, allowing them to attach to the front outer lip of the exterior black shell of the foldable softbox / octabox. The velcro inside the outer lip of this exterior shell is a wide strip that accommodates attachment of both the front diffusion panel and the grid.

We offer 40° fabric grids for each softbox, octabox and stripbox with a corresponding grid size for each individual box (for example, the G2436 grid is used with the FSB2436 softbox). Grids are not interchangeable between the different sizes and styles of boxes. The grids attach with velcro on the recessed front lip of each box.

The grids are designed for use with our current line of foldable softboxes, octaboxes and stripboxes and are not compatible with our retired previous lines of sotboxes.
